Go Bobcats!

It's football season again! We think it is finally Sophie's last year to wear the cheerleader uniform. Her first football season to wear it was 2008. She wore it for Halloween that year, too. She wore it again last year to the football games. I think it is time to pass it on.

First Grade Bibles

Today was a big milestone for Sophie. At our church all of the children receive Bibles when they start 1st grade. I always thought my kids were so far away from being here, yet here we are with Sophie. She was so excited and started reading it immediately during church. Taylor on the other hand didn't quite make it through the presentation to Sophie. I love these pictures of them together. My friend Carey captured it all on video, but I couldn't get it to save to my computer. If we're facebook friends, it is on my page.

Meet the Teacher

First grade is here! Sophie had Meet the Teacher on Friday afternoon at her new school. I am so excited about her year and how much she will learn and grow.

Friends, Food, and Feeding Program

Ahh....these last few days of summer freedom...

Yes, it's that time again...time for our Back to School Breakfasts. We were all up bright and early, but not quite early enough. We were a little late to Roxanne's, but I guess that is what a practice week is for. Roxanne was brave enough to host the first morning of our breakfasts and the kids played hard.

Then it was time to head to our last Monday of the Kids Eat program our church has taken part in this summer. It is part of the Texas Hunger Initiative, trying to make Texas hunger secure by 2015. We were one of many sites around town that started in July feeding kids who often go hungry during the summer after the summer school sites close. Our church fed 5 days a week and we were specifically in charge of Mondays. It was a blessing to get to take part in this ministry.

Reveille

We had a really neat experience the other night and got to hang out with Reveille for a while. The cadet in charge of her this year is from San Angelo and his mom works with one of our church members. So he invited them over to their house and we got to come meet her. The kids were so excited. Sophie even carried her stuffed Reveille with her. John Curtis followed her around the entire time and I think he ended up in everyone's pictures. Sorry about that!

Poor Deserted Children

Yes, we are the parents who left our children for 11 days while we went to Hawaii. I know a lot of parents cannot fathom doing this, but Taylor and I have never really had a problem leaving our kids in the capable hands of their grandparents. We were really missing them towards the end of our trip, but we are always able to enjoy our time alone. Don't feel too sorry for our children. They were living it up with both sets of grandparents. They spent half the time at my parents' house swimming, shopping, eating ice cream, and playing with their great grandparents. Mom sent me these pictures of their time together. They spent the second half with Taylor's parents and had fun playing with their dog, riding their scooters up and down Poppa's halls at school, and doing crafts. Sophie really got into sewing, too. We are so thankful that our kids have two sets of grandparents that they genuinely enjoy spending time with. They have never shed a tear in our absence and we never have to worry about them. Thanks G-Momma, Poppa, Grammy, and Bumpaw!
