Slumber Party!
Sophie had an early birthday party on Wednesday. Since her friend is moving overseas she wanted to have a sleepover when she could come. She chose to have an American Girl party.
Getting invitations ready
One for the girls and one for their dolls
It's VBS week (we're a little crazy) so we went straight from there to the pool for pizza and watermelon.
John Curtis got to join us for this part of the party,
as did the dolls.
After swimming for a while it was back to the house for games,
crafts,
(tiaras for the dolls),
and quizzes.
Then it was dinner time
for the girls,
and the dolls. Sally is quite flexible when she eats.
Yummy cake pops for dessert
Presents!
Then we had to get 4 little girls and their 4 dolls ready for bed. They settled down to watch a movie.
Amazingly, they were all asleep before 10. Maybe a sleepover during VBS isn't such a bad idea after all!

First Week of Summer
We left Sophie's awards ceremony and headed to Weatherford. Taylor and I left the kids with Grammy and Bumpaw and spent the night at the Omni Hotel in downtown Fort Worth to celebrate our 12th anniversary. It was a very relaxing weekend. We had a fun fondue dinner, slept late, and spent the day shopping for our bedroom redo later in the summer. After dinner back in Weatherford with the entire family we left the kids there for a few more days and Taylor and I came home. I spent the days cleaning out, organizing, and getting ready for our garage sale.
Some of my new favorite Pinterest ideas - crates with hanging files for each year. Theoretically, 1 crate should go PreK - 12th grade but since Sophie's is already about half full we may need a few crates per child!
Another Pinterest idea - kids' art gallery in the hall outside their bedrooms
Taylor idea - a ballet bar/floor/mirror in Sophie's room
She loves it!
I met Mom and Dad and picked up the kids Tuesday night. We have enjoyed our week so much swimming, riding bikes, playing games, and playing at the park.
Today we had our garage sale and Sophie had a lemonade stand.
John Curtis spent his day in the peach tree.
We did pretty well at the sale and are so glad to have it behind us. The kids want to spent their lemonade money on frozen yogurt tonight. No argument here!
Next week - ballet class for Sophie and lots of playing and relaxing for all of us!

Sophie's Last Week of 2nd Grade
Sophie had a very busy last week of school.
On Tuesday John Curtis and I met her class at the bowling alley.
Tuesday afternoon we were back at her school for her piano recital.
That will be the extent of Sophie's piano playing. She says she's learned all of the piano she cares to. Moving on....
On Wednesday she got to go swimming at our new city pool for reaching her AR goal.
Thursday we were back in the cafeteria watching her as a mouse in her choir performance.
Sophie and her friend, Ashley. We are saying goodbye to Ashley and her sweet family this summer as they move out of the country. We will miss watching Aggie games with them!
Friday was the last day of school and Sophie was not happy about it. The girl loves school and LOVES her teacher.

Group hug with Mrs. Gassiot
What a great year! Sophie has grown so much in so many ways. We are excited about starting our summer!
