Valentines 2014

We started our Valentine week on Monday with the annual Daddy/Daughter Date Night.  She loves this night with her Daddy.
Sophie and Taylor went out to eat at Olive Garden and then to the dance.  There is a Mother/Son dance, but thankfully JC isn't interested.  Instead, we went to see the Lego Movie and had popcorn and nachos for dinner.
John Curtis was VERY specific about the kind of Valentine box he wanted to make.  I was out of town so Taylor helped him make his Macaroni Penguin box.
Due to my years as a stay at home mom, my kids think their Valentines have to be made.  The fact that Mom is working full time while also remodeling a home does not change their minds about this.
Thankfully they are old enough to make them themselves so what you see is what you get (friendship spelled wrong and all).

January Visits

In January Taylor traveled to Israel for 2 weeks.  We had lots of visitors while he was gone.
During the first week Lindsey and Carter came and stayed with us for a few days.
We're a little crazy about this little boy!

My Mimi came to spend the 2nd week with us and the following weekend we took her down to Granbury Lake.
The kids had a blast playing on the beach.

They even ventured out into the freezing water.  The lake is so low they were able to walk halfway across it!

Aunt Edie came on Saturday to hang out.  The kids love their fun great aunt.

It was a great week with Mimi.
Thankful for her!

Mississippi

On Christmas night the kids and I drove to Weatherford so we could get up the next morning and make the long trek to Vicksburg.

We got to meet our new cousin, Caroline.
Even at the new house there was lots of exploring to be done!

Game time!  John Curtis really bonded with Aunt Carol.
Of course we always love being with this guy!

We got to see all of our family while we were there.

It was so good to spend this time with my grandparents.

Christmas Eve and Day

On Christmas Eve day the Waltons came over for lunch.  The kids played and decorated cookies.

That night we went to church and then had dinner at our friends', the Galbans.
 Reading The Night Before Christmas
 Christmas morning!

Santa left gifts at the new house, too!

Then it was back to the house for breakfast and more presents.

The rest of the day was spent taking down Christmas decorations and moving stuff over to the new house.  It was a strange Christmas, but we were thankful to be with our family.

Nutcracker and Grandparent Visit

The Friday night we got out of school, Grammy, Bumpaw, DeeDee, Brian, and Baby Carter came to visit.  Sophie had opening night of Nutcracker so Taylor went to watch that night.  The next morning we had Christmas together.

 He finally got Skylanders!

Loved hanging out with this guy!!!!

That afternoon they all went to see Sophie perform.  After an early dinner they all went home while I attended the evening performance of Nutcracker.
G-Momma and Poppa came in that night and JC got to open more birthday presents!
Then after church on Sunday they went and watched Sophie's last performance.

We spent Monday painting the house and packing and moving some.  Sophie got to pick her own color and paint her own room.
