Fall Weekends

Our weekends this fall have been full of family, football, ballet, and lots of resting.

Last weekend Mom, Dad, Lindsey, and Carter came for Grandparent's Day at our school.  They ate lunch with both of the kids and Mom hung out in my classroom all day.  The rest of the time Sophie and I took turns holding Carter.
Bumpaw and JC played Battleship and he actually stood out in the rain to watch JC play half of his football game before they finally called it.
It was the weekend before Lindsey's birthday so we had to celebrate.

Look!  She's turning 8!

This week we finally got to play some good, dry football!

Little School House on the Prairie

One of the advantages of having your school on a National Landmark is that you have a field trip right in your back yard.  Every year the 4th graders spend part of a day in the old school house pretending like they are going to school in the 1800s.

I don't think she thought this was nearly as cool as I did.  As a child who grew up with Little House on the Prairie, this was a day out of my favorite TV show!

The school marm was quite strict.  Look how straight they're sitting!

They even got to put their lunches in lunch pails.  How fun is that?  The kids decided they would stick with their air conditioned school for now!

Art Tour with Uncle Erick

Last weekend Uncle Erick was working in San Angelo so we got to hang out with him.  He and Taylor took the kids to the high school football game on Saturday night.  On Sunday we decided to show him the artsy side of San Angelo.  Yes, we do have one!

We toured the art museum which really impressed John Curtis

Then we took him down Art Alley.

We ended up back by the river before frozen yogurt.  Yum!
Thanks for coming to see us Uncle E!

Carter William Brewer

Carter William Brewer entered the world at 6:54 pm on August 26 (the previously mentioned first day of school) weighing 6lbs, 13 oz. We finally got to go see him this weekend and we are all in love.

Sophie took to him right away and she begged to stay at Lindsey's house with me that night.
She was a big helper.
How sweet is that face????

On Sunday afternoon we drove back the Weatherford and Uncle Taylor finally got to meet his nephew.

We finally talked JC into holding him.  He'd wanted nothing to do with him, but his smile when he finally held him says he's pretty fond of his little cousin too.

This girl had lots of tears when it was time to tell Carter good-bye last night.  Sure wish we lived closer!

Back to School

What a week!  Last Friday we had Meet the Teacher.  Taylor took them because I had my own class of 23 darlings to meet.  Thankfully, I already know the teachers.  JC has Sophie's first grade teacher and Sophie is right across the hall from my classroom.  Lucky girl!

Then it was the first day of school!

As if the first week of school wasn't enough, Baby Carter decided to come on the first day (he gets his own post next) and Uncle Erick came to town to work and play Lego StarWars with JC.

It was a wonderfully, busy, exhausting week!

Kayaking the Llano

Our dear friends, the Barkers, is invited us to go kayaking with them in Junction last weekend.  We had so much fun! Taylor towed JC and the girls caught on pretty well.  The kids are already asking when they can go again and I'm trying to keep Taylor from buying his own kayak!

Kids Camp

I'm a little behind on my summer posts.  The Sandlins have been a busy group.  The kids and I have been getting ready to go back to school and driving to Weatherford and Fort Worth helping Lindsey get ready for Baby Carter. Taylor has been busy with schedule changes at church and all the extra work that brings.  Any free time we have we just want to hang out together at the pool or at home so blogging hasn't been a high priority.  I'm going to do my BEST to blog this fall but am not making any promises (so don't pester me, Edie!).

Anyway...this was Sophie's first year to get to go away to Kids Camp with our church.  Taylor is the camp pastor every other year and this was his year.  They needed me to be a sponsor so the whole family went to camp.  Poor kid - that's just part of being a preacher's kid.  Hopefully next year she'll get to go on her own.  We all had a lot of fun, though.

 Hiking

I got to hang out with this sweetie!
 Pirate Night

Skit - pastoral interns never know what they'll have to do!
