Wheels!

John Curtis got a scooter from his Uncle Erick for Christmas. Sophie's had one for about six months and loves it. John Curtis is catching on quickly. This video was taken on Christmas - he's gotten much faster in the last two weeks.

Big Boy Room

While the kids were at Grammy and Bumpaw's earlier this week, Taylor and I cleaned out toys, took down John Curtis's baby bed, and set up his big boy room. He has had a lot of fun playing in it. I can't believe the baby bed is up in the attic. They grow too fast! Just so you know, his room is ALWAYS this clean. I wish! I kept wanting to take a picture of it for the blog, but everytime I went in there toys were everywhere, which is the way a two year old's room is supposed to look when he's enjoying it. So I had to wait until those few minutes after we pick up all the toys just before he goes to bed. It only stays like this while he sleeps! I'm glad he loves his new room.

John Curtis is 2!

John Curtis got over all of his sickness from the week in time for his birthday. He is a big 2 year old now. What a joy he is to our family! I never knew what little boys were like, but they are definitely a lot of fun. All three of us laugh at him all the time. Sophie adores him and wants to teach him everything she knows. He is in love with her as well and will do anything she wants just to have her play with him. He started sleeping in his "big boy" bed this week and is doing great in it. We heard him get up one night in the middle of the night, but took him right back to bed and haven't had anymore troubles. While John Curtis is a joy, parenting him is not always a walk in the park. We are already experiencing 2 year old tantrums and he definitely wants to do things his way. Part of his frustration comes from not being able to communicate with us very well. He is trying to say more words everyday, but sometimes has a hard time getting us to understand him. He is also going through an attachment phase right now where he doesn't want us out of his sight. This is quite a change from his previous personality, but we hope it is just a phase. In the meantime, I'm trying to enjoy the extra time he spends in my lap. It is his favorite place to be these days. If I'm not giving him my undivided attention he tries to turn my head toward him so I am looking right at him. I love my little boy!

Halloween Parade

John Curtis and his classmates got to wear their costumes to school today. After we dropped them off, the parents went into the gym and sat in a semi circle with candy. Then the kids paraded in and went trick or treating. They were so funny! All of the kids had a look of confusion on their faces. John Curtis didn't crack a smile the entire time. When he came to me to get candy, he just looked at me with no recognition on his face. All the kids were so cute! I wish I could post their class picture, but I try not to put other people's kids on my blog without their permission.

John Curtis and his Class at the Pumpkin Patch

The church where the kids go to school sets up a pumpkin patch every year. It is where we went on Saturday to take pictures. Today was John Curtis's class's turn to go play in the pumpkin patch. He brought a little one home and is so proud of it.

John Curtis and His "Dish"

John Curtis has been very excited about Sophie's new fish. He loves to stand on her little chair and watch them. Thanks to Miss Cindy, he now has his own little fish aquarium. I think he thinks they're real. Every morning he says, "Mama, dish, o". Translation: "Mama, fish, on."

Fish and Football

My parents came Friday and stayed through today. It was good to see them and we kept them busy. On Friday Taylor and Sophie put together her new aquarium. It is actually Taylor's old aquarium that has been at his office. Since he's getting a new one for his new office we thought we'd give Sophie the old one so she could have pets. We changed all the decorations and made it girly and Sophie loves it.

The finished product

I often walked in the room and found Taylor staring at the aquarium. Sophie joined him.

On Saturday we went shopping for a Halloween costume for JohnCurtis. Sophie wants to wear her cheerleader outfit that she wears to the games, so we wanted to get him a football uniform. We found lots of cute jerseys but only found one costume with a helmet. I think we'll use the helmet and the pants and get him a t-shirt to wear. The shirt that came with it was itchy and he didn't like it.I look good!
I could play for the Aggies! (literally)

Weekend Pics

Taking two classes this semester is not leaving me much time to blog, but here is a snapshot of our weekend.

Sophie and JC playing tickle monster on Friday. We had a low key day that ended in Family Movie Night. Can anyone else claim they've seen Air Bud??????
John Curtis playing at the park on Saturday morning. He has on Sophie's sunglasses.
The daddies were putting the finishing touches on our newly completed multi purpose building at church so we met Evan at the park and had some fun play time.
Sophie is getting better at her scooter.
