Family Night

There are some nights and weekends when we are home with our kids and feel like we are going to lose our minds. Last weekend was like this. Then there are some evenings when we are hanging out and you think it can't get much better than this. Last night was one of those nights. After dinner Taylor lit a fire and I popped some popcorn. We settled down and watched A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. It was so funny how amusing the kids thought the movie was and how amusing Taylor and I thought they were as John Curtis continually shoveled popcorn into his mouth.

When the movie was over we played Chutes and Ladders and Pretty, Pretty Princess in front of the fire. It was such a fun, relaxing evening.

Fall Fun

I LOVE Family Fun Magazine. A friend from church got me a subscription ( thanks, Carol) and I have used so many ideas from it. Last weekend Sophie and I made these leaf pastries. We cut leaves out of pie crust and filled them with chocolate chips and walnuts. They were yummy!

I have started watching Gracie and Ellie after school three days a week. On Monday we made the oreo cookie turkeys from the magazine. It was definitely the best snack they've had at my house!

On Wednesday when the girls were over they colored Pilgrim and Indian puppets and had fun playing with them behind the puppet theater.

Fun times at the Sandlin house!

Sophie's a Pilgrim Girl.

Sophie's school had their Thanksgiving Feast on Friday. They sang some songs and ate some good food. Sophie was a pilgrim and looked so cute in her costume.

Fort Worth

Taylor had meetings in Fort Worth on Monday and Tuesday of this week so the kids and I went along with him. We stayed with my parents and had a good time seeing Grammy and Bumpaw. On Monday morning the kids and I visited DeeDee at her library and then drove to Fort Worth to visit Mimi. Taylor had a break at lunch so we picked him up and met some dear friends at the mall for lunch. The Sheltons were good friends of ours in seminary. Ross is now a pastor and had come in for the conference. We hadn't seen them since Sophie was a baby so it was good to catch up. They have a beautiful smart 2 year old named Audrey and one on the way. After lunch Ross and Taylor went back and Lauren and I spent the afternoon at the play area and the Disney Store with the kids. Just like old times, only with 3 little ones added on. So fun! I met Taylor at the conference that night for a dinner and then we had a little date night at Starbucks.

Mom and Lindsey took off on Tuesday and we went to the Fort Worth zoo. We had a great day. The weather was perfect and the crowds were low. The kids really enjoyed it, too. When we left the zoo we stopped by the hospital to visit my great aunt and uncle Max and G.T. Max broke her hip recently and I think the kids cheered her up. We are back home today and getting caught up on school and housework. We sure did enjoy our break, though.

Open House

Sophie's class had Open House last night. She had fun showing off her classroom. Her teacher had prepared a scavenger hunt that took us around the room and showed us all they do during the day. She is such a big girl!
