Life Lately

Life has been full lately.   I'm home from church this morning with a little boy who's sick for the 2nd time this week, so I thought it was a good time to update my blog.

Last week Sophie had her artwork in the local gallery.

This is the painting her whole class did together.

Last Monday night John Curtis had his spring performance at school.

Taylor and the kids did some fishing last weekend.

John Curtis is getting better at his reading. He loves for Sophie to read with him the most.  Can't believe he'll be in kindergarten next year!

That's life.  We're all getting restless for summer but first we have my sis's wedding in two weeks.  Can't wait!

It took me all morning to write this post due to sickness and throw up.  Hope we're almost over it!

Cooking Monday

The kids and I were off Monday and spent the entire day in the kitchen.
We are continuing to try to eat better and cut out some processed foods.
 We made bread,
(which is probaby humorous to people who know me),

 smoothies, peanut butter,

 whole wheat tortillas,

 (I'm getting better),
 and cupcakes.

My new obsession is fruit water.  It is so yummy and has replaced my daily Dr. Pepper.

This has been a fun process we're going through so far.  We aren't being extremists about it - we still eat our share of processed food (and enjoy it).  But we are slowly trying to reduce the amount we are eating.  It's not really as hard as I thought it would be.  A day spent in the kitchen wasn't really necessary, but it was fun.

Easter 2012

We had such a great Easter week.

The kids both got to hunt eggs Wednesday night at church,

 and Thursday at school.
Thursday night we went to the Maundy Thursday service at church.  It was wonderful!
Friday the kids and I met the Peacocks at the park and then played and worked around the house all day.  That night the Fentresses came over for fajitas.  It was such a nice night to sit outside and visit.
The Easter Bunny came Saturday morning!

Then we bought seeds and plants and planted our garden.

We had a great lunch out together and another dinner with friends that night when we went over to the Lyles with the rest of the staff.
Easter morning - He is Risen!

Not the best family picture, but the best we could do considering it was after early service and JC had just woken up after sleeping through the whole sermon.

We had the Waltons over for lunch.  Always so thankful to have our Southland family to spend time with on holidays.

 Kids' Table
 Sophie did name markers.
 Grownup Table
The guys showed up in matching shirts!  They have a lot of Truett pride!
 Easter Lunch
After naps the kids got to dye eggs.

Hope everyone had a blessed Easter!
