Some Halloween Fun!

I saw these pumpkins at the Hot Spot at Target one day and thought they had potential.

With a little paint and ribbon I made teacher gifts.
 It was fun!

I made these mandarin orange pumpkins for football snacks one week.  I got the idea from one of my students - pretzels for the stems with spinach leaves.

John Curtis had some fun dressing up his stuffed animals for Halloween, too.

Jaguar went as a Kleenex box.
Teddy was a knight.  Uncle Erick brought JC this mini suit of armor helmet when he was visiting a castle in Scotland a few years ago.  JC asked us why their heads used to be so small!

Halloween 2012

Taylor left last Sunday after church to go to the BGCT in Corpus.  When I picked Sophie up from school Monday afternoon she was coughing horribly and said she didn't feel like going to ballet.  This never happens so I knew she was feeling bad.  She started running fever that evening so I knew we'd have to miss school the day of her school fall festival.  She and Gracie and I spent Tuesday curled up on her bed sleeping, reading, and watching Netflix on my tablet.  Not a bad way to pass a day.  I was so thankful for our wonderful Miss Cindy who came and sat with Sophie Tuesday night so John Curtis wouldn't have to miss his Fall Festival.

My little dragon and I had fun together!

Wednesday we were all back at school for some Halloween fun.

 Traditional Ghost Toast
Daddy got home Wednesday afternoon in time for Trunk or Treat that evening.

Another Fall Saturday

We had another busy, busy day, but we got to get started a little later this week.  I dropped Sophie off at ballet at 10 and made it to JC's 10:15 game.

He's doing better every week and scored twice during this game and pulled his first flag.

We were freezing after his game so we went to eat Mexican food and warm up with some tortilla soup.  When Sophie got out of ballet it was time to head back to the field for his afternoon game that was a makeup from one of the rainy Saturdays.

DeeDee came down for this game.  Brian had a meeting in Abilene so she joined him and got to sneak away for a few hours to visit us.
The boys were super tired by this point and this is what much of the game looked like, although he did pull another flag.

The kids were so sad DeeDee couldn't stay long but since it was Uncle Brian's birthday we let her go back to him

I cheered them up with some Halloween festivities in the evening.

 Pumpkin Carving
 Mummy Meatloaf

Vampire Cupcakes

and a Alvin and the Chipmunks Halloween movie.

I obviously need to sweep my walk!

They look cheered up.  Don't be fooled - JC was in tears moments later.  So tired!

Pumpkin Day 2012

While I should have let the tradition die this year, I just couldn't let go of it.  I started Pumpkin Day when we moved here in 2006.  Sophie was 2 and I was pregnant with JC.  Our days were long and Pumpkin Day was a fun way to fill a long Saturday.  We've had fun doing it every year, but fast forward to 2012 and I couldn't find a Saturday to squeeze it in.  So instead of letting it go like a sane person would the kids and I had Pumpkin Day on Sunday.  It didn't include Daddy this year but the 3 of us had fun.

We started out our day with pumpkin bread.  I had to really think about my menu this year with the change in our eating habits.  The kids loved the pumpkin bread though.
After breakfast we watched It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.
 After church we made pizzas.
 The finished product!
After naps we rode our bikes over to Sierra Vista's pumpkin patch.

For dinner it was pumpkin pancakes with cinnamon and brown sugar on top.  We are pumpkined out!
