Ours, not the John Grisham novel. Although that is a very good book, much different from his other books. Not a lawyer in sight. There isn't a lawyer in sight at our painted house either except when Uncle Erick comes. I must say I am a little depressed as I post these before and after pictures. You really can't tell a huge difference in them. Over a month of painting and most people may not be able to tell. But there is a big difference in real life and up close.
So here goes...
Before
After
Before (although I had started painting some of the trim black before I took this picture)
After
And now I will reveal our bold new ceiling. We stole this idea from our friends, the Barkers who saw it in Southern Living or some other magazine. They distressed theirs and toned it down a little, but we don't really believe in toning bright colors down at our house. The color is supposed to keep wasps and birds from building their nests. It's also supposed to keep the evil spirits away, but we feel like we already have that protection and aren't too worried about that.
Taylor put up these cool lights from Hobby Lobby. In this picture you can see all 3 colors of paint I have been living with since March.
Back porch with Taylor's work of art and our new light fixtures

So there it is. If you don't like it, I don't want your comments because I'm not going to change it now. If you like it, feel free to leave comments.

Alyson - I will be glad to come by later this afternoon to get the up close view, if you would like for me to.

I LOVE it Alyson! I look forward to seeing it in person. I think the bright colors are awesome and the house looks very sharp! Good job both of you! I am very impressed with Taylor's artwork too.
Love it!! You are so good at taking chances and tackling big projects, and still be speaking to each other when it is over. Good job!
I LOVE it!! And I could tell a difference immediately in your before and after pics! The black looks so crisp and sharp...love it!!! I also am jealous of your turquoise porch ceiling!:) I have read that same thing, but I can't convince Ben of that!:)haha... It looks great..all of it:)...
It looks great, and I love the ceiling! I never noticed the shutters before you painted them, I thought they were new.
Very nice! I saw that article. I think they called it haint blue or taint blue something like that for the evil spirits. I'm inspired but I have no porch. I'll come sit on yours.
COLOR SPLASH! I love your paint job! I left you a reply on my blog but I laughed hysterically when you suggested David Bromstad. Luke and I watch that show all the time and I tell him often that he is the only straight guy I know that can define a focal point.:) Great job!
